Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery to remove fat from different parts of a body. It can also be called lipoclastic and lipectomy. The most common areas for liposuction are the abdomen (belly fat), thighs and butt.
Diet and exercise is always the recommended way and the healthiest way to lose weight. But sometimes all the diet and exercise won’t remove fat in those stubborn areas. That’s where liposuction comes in.
Keep in mind that liposuction isn’t weight loss surgery. It’s body contouring. You will lose a few pounds of fat after liposuction but it’s not weight loss surgery. That’s gastric bypass or lapband surgery. The amount of fat being removed depends on you and your particular surgery.
There are different factors in the cost of liposuction. They are:
- The number of areas from where the fat is to be removed
- Your body type
- The amount of fat to be removed
- The geographical location you are having surgery in
- The surgeon performing the surgery
- Are you having it in a hospital or outpatient surgery center
But you want to know about how much it costs or about what you can expect. Well depending on various factors, you can expect the cost to be between $700 and $1,200. Some doctors offer discounts for repeated procedures. For instance one time you may want your butt liposuctioned and another time you may want your belly liposuctioned.
Now the important thing about cost to know is that you AREN’T JUST PAYING FOR THE LIPOSUCTION. Some people get that confused. You also have to pay for the anesthesiologist (and those guys don’t come cheap), pre surgery testing to make sure you are healthy enough to have surgery as well as medication after the surgery such as pain medication. If you are staying over night in a hospital you will incurr that cost as well.
So, there is the liposuction itself cost and the ENTIRE cost including everything. To get a more exact figure call up a plastic surgery clinic and ask them to give you a general amount on how much everything together will cost. They can not give you an exact amount until they look at you and know what section of the body you want operated on and how much fat has to be removed.
